USA CALIFORIAN CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT (CCPA)

This section outlines the CCPA requirements and how we address them — the key requirements are usually addressed within the EU GDPR requirements and details are not duplicated in the section.

CCPA has similar consumer rights to the EU GDPR requirements including what privacy data a company has collected either directly or from other sources, the reason for the collection, how long the data will be held for, security of the data, and who the data is sold or shared with. You also have the right to be informed and to control your data use via deletion of data, inaccurate data corrected, opting out of selling and sharing your data, and limiting the use of your data. CCPA has a focus on the sale or sharing of your information (this is addressed in the EU GDPR but only under sharing; sale of data is sharing the data).

There are differences relating to items that are classed as ‘sensitive’ data types, CCPA having additional types. We will not ask for or require you to provide any sensitive data (unless you are an employee or a job applicant), we review all systems to ensure appropriate controls are in-place to protect all data types. Except for job applicants and staff, the only sensitive data we normally require relates to credit card payments, these are processed by external trusted providers — we do not store, process, or have access to any customer financial information.
